A Real Bruce Plan
Thanks to Queenslanders and our strong health response, we've been able to focus on our economic recovery plan which includes investing in key economic assets like the Bruce Highway.
The Palaszczuk Labor Government has locked in at least $1 Billion per year under our Bruce Highway Trust with the Federal Government.
Right now, we are transforming the Bruce around Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gympie and the Sunshine Coast with 33 projects underway, supporting thousands of regional jobs.
We’re also backing a visionary plan to build an inland freight route, creating a second Bruce Highway and supporting jobs, businesses and the economy.
An inland freight route will reduce travel times, increase economic activity and make the coastal Bruce Highway safer.
Our Real Bruce Plan builds on the $12.6 billion jointly-funded partnership with the Federal Government supporting 2,500 jobs. We’ll bolster our existing $12.6 billion 15 year plan by:
- Progressing dual laning
- Flood proofing the Bruce
- Building the Second Bruce – an inland freight highway for Queensland that will take trucks off the Bruce
- Reducing fatalities by 60% by 2030.
Only a Palaszczuk will work with the Federal Government to realise our long-term vision for the Bruce; creating local jobs, helping our economy recover, cutting travel times and making our national highway safer and easier to travel.
